The BIG I-5-0!!! Celebrating Canada’s Birthday!
Whether you were in the city, up north at the cottage or hanging out in your backyard blasting some fireworks this past Canada Day, we sure hope you were doing something to celebrate our beautiful country.
With the many events and festivities centered around Canada’s 150th birthday it was difficult not to go anywhere and be reminded of our annual commemorative holiday—that is July 1st. But truly, “What is Canada?’
It is important to note, that to everyone this holiday may mean something different, but I hope that for all in some form or another it means a celebration of ONE. That is one home, one nation and one people.
Throughout history Canada has been known as a peacekeeping country. Safe, welcoming and accepting are only some of the words that come to mind. However, so much of this heritage has been instilled from the people of the land, our ancestors-Aboriginals and Indigenous people.
I hope that many of us never forget what Canada was founded upon, but rather celebrate the collaborative nation we have become. May we continue to grow glorious and free and be thankful to call Canada HOME.
